How to turn speech into text

Record or drop a clip. Copy the words when they appear. What works, and what to edit.

Record or drop a file

On Speech to text, either allow the microphone and record, or choose an audio file. Press transcribe. Copy the words when they appear.

Treat it as a first draft. Fix names, numbers, and anything you would send to someone else.

What works well

English, one person, close to the mic, a few minutes. Far-away speakers, two people talking over each other, and music underneath will look like a bad typo storm.

This page is English-only. Always edit the text before you send it to anyone.
